Runestones - Photogrammetry

General / 11 March 2026

As part of the university course 3D Data and Visualization in Archaeology and Cultural Heritage, I worked on this small photogrammetry project.

Photo of original object located in Uppsala

A total of 130 pictures were taken from different angles around the object and imported into Reality Scan.

My friend and I paid a visit to one of the museums on Gotland last week. We found cool objects and ideas, then we decided to model something we liked. There were a lot of medieval tools, coins and types of armour but I saw this old iron and became my chosen object.
I didn't want to put too much time into making this model and a lot of the focus was put mostly on getting the shape and the head of the bird? dragon? bird with scales?
Took some pictures for reference. The iron was inside a display case so it got a bit hard to get all angles properly.

Modeled all pieces in Blender and used some sculpting for the head. For the materials I used some megascans textures.

I wanted to go the simplest way possible to get the scales. Tried some geometry nodes in the beginning but didn't get the results I wanted so did a very simple sculpt instead. For the materials I used two types of wood, one rust iron texture and added a layer of dirt. I used some vertex painting for the handle to show some worn areas. Like I mentioned, didn't want to spend much time so I decided not to make the handle as in the picture.

And here are other shots showing the render:

Little Light - Jame Gam #44

General / 18 November 2024

We took this weekend to participate in a 48hr game jam. Little Light is a small puzzle game in which you play as a Moth who needs to carry light to survive and solve problems. You can play the game on Itch!

We spent Saturday morning brainstorming based on the Jam's theme which was LIGHT. They also had one object as a requirement and that was CURTAIN. After a very fast sketching session we went into production.

We decided to make the game in Godot, which was a first for me. I made a bunch of 3D environment assets to dress the levels and decided to test gradient texturing to get a very stylized aesthetic (yes, we ended up doing everything almost B&W but it was still fun to try!)

After a couple of days, it was time to dress the levels and use Godot for the first time. Overall very happy with the result and having learned new things. Until another game jam!

November Challenge

General / 07 December 2023

First blog, what to do?

I am the co-founder of GeDi, Gender Diversity in Games! We started this community with the idea of helping people. We all want to find a job in an industry that cares about gender diversity. We are mostly online based and have a discord server that grows a little every day!

In this server we share useful resources, available job positions and it's a place where people can show what they do. But not everything is about work!
It is a place to connect with others and have some fun together. So we created montly challenges!

Every month, we drop five new challenges for artists, programmers, writers and sound designers :D
And of course I had to take part on our first ever challenge! 3D artists had to come up with a character or prop, based on some type of mushrooms

So I went down the rabbit hole of references and sketched a few little people:

A very fancy lady, a scientist and a peaky blinder mushroom came to life. I was looking for, well of course, a challenge.. so fancy lady won the prize and got chosen for the task. I've been meaning to explore working with fuzzy materials, those you see all over instagram and look VERY soft. I went into Maya and created a base body and then moved to Blender, where I spent an evening learning about hair particles and rendering images.
It was a very small project but a great way of learning new little things!

Did I do this blog thing correclty? :)
Hope to share other challenges here soon.
